Dane Miller gets MVP of the Week award for Basketball Africa League (by Hoops Agents)- April 29, 2023
The 32-year old power forward had a double-double of 20 points and twelve rebounds, while his team lost the game against the league's best team Cape Town T. (#2, 1-0) 68-75. SLAC moved-up to the 6th position in Basketball Africa League. They are still not able to win a single game in the league yet. The season is still in it's early stage, so the team may have a chance to improve their current position in the standings. They lost 1 games and had no victories. Miller turned to be SLAC's top player in his first season with the team. Dane Miller averages this season 16.8ppg and 9.8rpg. Worth to mention Miller played also at Eurobasket Summer League, which helped him get the job in pro basketball. The second most remarkable performance in last round's games was young South Sudanese Nuni Omot (206-SF-1994) of league's best team Al Ahly. Omot impressed basketball fans with 21 points, 3 rebounds and 2 assists. Of course he led Al Ahly to another comfortable win 92-74 over Fer.Beira (#5, 0-1) being unquestionably team leader. Of course Al Ahly still keep the league's top spot. His team has extremely good start of the season. They won their first game. However the season is at the beginning, so everything can happen. They still may lose their high position in the standings. Omot is one of the most experienced players at Al Ahly and has a reputation of one of team's most reliable players. The third best performed player last round was American James Justice (178-SG-1989) of City Oilers (#4). Justice showcased his all-around game by recording 20 points, eight rebounds and five assists in the last round. Despite Justice's great performance City Oilers lost 71-89 to #3 ranked P.Luanda. But his team cannot count on just a single player as he also needs help of the other teammates especially in such crucial game. The season just started for Justice as he played only first game. But it already looks like he can be team's leader. Other top performing players last week: 4. Falando Jones (193-SF-1990) of City Oilers - 22 points, 5 rebounds and 3 assists 5. Omar Oraby (218-C-1991) of Al Ahly - 15 points and 6 rebounds 6. Bourama Sidibe (208-SF-1997) of Fer.Beira - 17 points and 7 rebounds 7. William Perry (183-F-1994) of Fer.Beira - 18 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists 8. Carlos Morais (192-SG-1985) of P.Luanda - 11 points, 7 rebounds and 3 assists 9. Josh Hall (206-F-2000) of Cape Town T. - 15 points and 8 rebounds 10. Corey Webster (188-SG-1988) of Al Ahly - 11 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists The Player of the week is selected based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc. The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy. The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3* (REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4* (2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3* (2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3* (3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)
